The Headmaster of St. Andrew’s Ndwaddemutwe Seed Secondary School, Nathan Kigongo, has urged the government to invest more in training teachers, especially those in rural areas, to effectively implement the new curriculum and improve students’ academic performance.

His appeal comes after the release of the 2024 UACE results, where the school’s best student scored 16 points, and many others secured university placements.
The Ugandan government, through the National Curriculum Development Centre, introduced the Adapted Curriculum for O’Level and A’Level, but many school leaders, teachers, and parents are still struggling to fully understand its implementation.

Speaking from the school in Kimenyedde, Mukono District, Mr. Kigongo emphasized the need for extensive teacher training at the grassroots level to enhance education quality.
The school’s head of academics, Kabali Robert, expressed gratitude for their students’ performance, highlighting that this was only their second time presenting candidates for UACE. Out of 65 students, most scored between 14 and 16 points. He encouraged students to carefully choose subject combinations that align with their strengths.
A teacher at the school, Kayiwa Muzamiru, thanked God for their success and appreciated the school administration for providing the necessary support. He also urged the government to provide more resources, especially for science subjects.

One of the students, Namayanja Juliet, expressed her gratitude to the headmaster and teachers for their dedication, which enabled them to score well and qualify for university.
