The Mukono District Education Officer, Rashid Kikomeko, has urged parents to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children during this holiday season, emphasizing the importance of keeping them away from idleness to ensure they return to school in good health. He also encouraged parents to educate their children on avoiding involvement in harmful activities, such as drug abuse.
Kikomeko made this appeal during a Speech Day ceremony at Eden Wonders Nursery and Primary School, located in Kabembe, Miggo, in Kyampisi Sub-county. The event showcased various activities performed by the students, including sports, music, and speeches. It also marked the promotion of Top Class pupils to Primary One for the upcoming academic year 2025.
In his address, Kikomeko expressed gratitude to parents for their dedication to their children’s education. He stressed the importance of close parental supervision during the holiday season, advising against leaving children to roam aimlessly and highlighting the need to prepare them for the new school term.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including representatives from Kyaggwe ssaaza County, led by Tenywa David, who encouraged parents to nurture their children into becoming responsible and productive members of society.
Hon. Councilor Kaddu Richard Kabinika, Speaker of Kyampisi Sub-county, representing Hon. Kiwanuka Abudhala Mulima Mayuni, Member of Parliament for Mukono North, urged parents to avoid granting excessive freedom to their children. He emphasized the importance of dedicating quality time to their upbringing.
Similarly, Eva Nanteza, the Kyampisi Sub-county Education Officer, cautioned parents against wearing inappropriate clothing that could set a bad example for children. She also urged school administrators not to tolerate such behavior from parents and to ensure that school fees are paid on time.
The head teacher of Eden Wonders Nursery and Primary School, Nathan Ngobi, commended the teachers for their dedication and encouraged students to continue working hard to become responsible individuals in the future.
The celebration featured entertainment by students from different classes and was attended by the school founder, Kyakulaga Robert, local leaders from the sub-county, parents, and teachers.
