Hon. Amos Lugolobi, the Member of Parliament for Ntenjeru North and the Minister of State for Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, served as the chief guest at a remarkable occasion held at St. Paul Ndeeba Church of Uganda. The event, which took place at the Archdeaconry headquarters, was marked by the Bishop’s Pastoral Visit, a Confirmation Service, and the Induction of Ven. David Ssekimpi as the 11th Archdeacon of Ndeeba.
The ceremony was officiated by the 5th Bishop of Mukono Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, who was accompanied by The Very Rev. Can. Godfrey Ssengendo, the Diocesan Secretary Rev. Can. John Ssebudde, and Rev. Can. Edward Balamaze Kironde from Seeta. Numerous canons, archdeacons, clergy, and lay readers were also present. During the service, Bishop Kagodo confirmed 142 Christians into the Anglican faith.
In his sermon, Bishop Kagodo emphasized the importance of diligence and hard work, urging the congregation to expect profit in God’s name through their efforts. He encouraged the faithful to give wholeheartedly in the upcoming annual harvest, assuring them of divine rewards and reminding them to prepare for both life on earth and eternal life in heaven. “We have all been called to serve and profit,” the Bishop affirmed, calling on the congregation to strive for both spiritual and material prosperity.
As he took on the mantle of Archdeacon, Ven. David Ssekimpi laid out an ambitious plan to elevate Ndeeba Archdeaconry. His commitments include constructing a state-of-the-art residence for the Archdeacon and supporting diocesan initiatives such as the building of a new cathedral. He also highlighted his focus on mission work, fostering unity among people of different backgrounds, and providing educational workshops and forums for both school-going and non-school-going children to enrich their spiritual and practical lives. Additionally, Ven. Ssekimpi promised to establish new fellowships and strengthen existing ones to nurture the faith community.
Hon. Amos Lugolobi, addressing the congregation, reiterated the government’s commitment to working hand in hand with the Diocese to promote both spiritual and economic development. He called on the believers to remain closely connected to the Church and its leadership, emphasizing the Church’s role as the link that connects them to God. He also encouraged the congregation to participate actively in government programs, noting that such engagement would enable them to thrive materially while serving God. “Be diligent in participating in government programs so that you can grow in material things while serving God, rather than remaining idle and stagnant,” Hon. Lugolobi advised.
Ndeeba Archdeaconry, which was established on January 1, 1978, has seen ten Archdeacons serve before Ven. David Ssekimpi, who now becomes the 11th. He succeeds Bishop Wilson Kisekka, now serving as the Bishop of Luweero. Ven. Ssekimpi’s leadership promises to continue the legacy of spiritual growth and community development, as he leads the faithful into a new chapter of progress and unity.
The day’s events marked a celebration of faith, leadership, and the ongoing collaboration between the Church and the government in fostering both spiritual and material growth within the community.
