The Rev. David Kaggwa, Vicar of Nakifuma in Bukoba Archdeaconry, Diocese of Mukono, has condemned parents who lead their children, especially candidates preparing for final exams, into acts of divination with the hope of helping them succeed. He stressed that such practices are wrong and contradict the traditions of God.
Rev. Kaggwa delivered these remarks during a Thanksgiving and Dedication service at Nakanyonyi Secondary School in Mukono, a government-aided Church of Uganda school. The service was held to pray for Senior 4 and Senior 6 students as they prepare for their final exams. He warned the students against engaging in witchcraft or cheating during exams, stating that these actions could lead to failure and other negative consequences.
Kaggwa highlighted the need for fervent prayers for all students, particularly those sitting for final exams, to help them resist temptations and distractions from Satan, which may interfere with their studies and exam performance.
Additionally, Rev. David Mukooza, Vicar of Kiyunga Parish and Chaplain of the school, criticized mothers who place an excessive burden on fathers by neglecting their responsibilities, especially concerning school fees and other necessities. He argued that such mothers are failing in their duties.
Amos Balongo, the Headteacher of Nakanyonyi Secondary School, praised parents who contributed funds for the renovation of dilapidated school buildings. He highlighted the progress made over the past year, including the construction of a new main hall, the renovation of two termite-infested buildings, and the construction of a modern kitchen. He also expressed optimism about renovating the building at the school’s entrance.
