“You should purify yourselves before Serving God” – Rev. Ivan Kiberu urges choir members

Rev.Ivan Kiberu, the Parish Priest of Namuyenje Parish under the Nassuuti Archdeaconry in the Diocese of Mukono, has called on church choir members to prioritize personal purification before leading worship in the house of the Lord.

At Dekamos Media Services, we are here to remind you that capturing your great moments is our passion.

Speaking at a Christmas Carols event organized by Choir members of St. Paul Namuyenje Church of Uganda, Rev. Kiberu emphasized that singers are not just performers but spiritual leaders who guide the congregation in worship.

He urged them to live exemplary lives, avoiding behaviors that dishonor God, such as indulgence in sinful activities.

The event brought together choirs from different churches, including God’s Grace Choir from Katente Parish, the choir from St. Jude Catholic Church Namuyenje, and the youth choir of St. Paul Namuyenje Church of Uganda.

Rev. Kiberu reminded the Choir members that their role in church is sacred and should reflect their commitment to God. “Singing is a powerful act of worship that strengthens your relationship with God and uplifts your life spiritually,” he said. “However, it must come from a place of purity and dedication to God. Avoid songs that glorify ungodly practices, as they may lead to spiritual harm.”

Racheal Kakayi, chairperson of the Namuyenje choir Church of Uganda, The Treasurer of Namuyenje Parish and founder of Joy and Jolly Nursery and Primary School, thanked Rev. Kiberu and the congregation for their support. Despite limited resources, she encouraged her fellow choir members to stay united in their ministry, focusing on spreading the message of Christ’s love and generosity.

She further urged them to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by extending help to the needy and sharing the joy of the season through meaningful songs and acts of kindness.

The service, attended by Lay Reader Elijah Luminsa, various church leaders, and a large congregation, concluded with a fundraising effort that collected two million Ugandan shillings. The funds will support the choir in acquiring necessary equipment to enhance their music ministry.
