The retired Bishop Emeritus of Central Buganda, Jackson Matovu, made these remarks during a thanksgiving prayer, Holy Communion service, and dedication ceremony for the students of Seeta Parents Primary School, who are preparing to sit for their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
The event was held at Summer Garden in Mukono, where the school also celebrated its 30th anniversary since its establishment.
In his sermon, Bishop Emeritus Jackson Matovu urged the students not to be anxious during this exam period, but to trust in God, who is capable of all things, because He has a good plan for their lives. He encouraged them to seize the opportunity that God has provided for them.
The Archdeacon of Seeta, Ven. Canon Edward Balamaze Kironde, echoed similar sentiments, reminding the students that their success is also for their parents.
He emphasized the importance of hard work, advising them not to place too much pressure on themselves, but to focus on fulfilling the expectations of their parents and teachers. He encouraged them to move to the next level, bring pride to their school, and remember the teachers who have been a guiding light to them.
On behalf of the parents, Mr. Byansi Charles thanked the teachers for the excellent work they have done with the students.
He praised them for instilling in the students the discipline of prayer, daily tasks, and a love for reading. He also noted that the students can be easily distracted by circumstances, but with guidance, they can stay focused.
Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Ruth Mercy Nankinga expressed her deep gratitude to the school staff for their dedication, particularly for providing spiritual nourishment and preparing them well for the exams. She assured that the students would do their best in the upcoming exams.
The Head teacher of Seeta Parents Primary School, Fulge Byansi, also took the opportunity to thank the parents for their unwavering support in every aspect of the students’ lives.
He expressed optimism that the students would perform exceptionally well and encouraged them to live purposeful lives, aligning with the school’s theme for the year, “Eyes on the Dashboard.”
She expressed confidence in their ability to succeed, just as they did in the mock exams, and extended her thanks to the parents for supporting their children and entrusting them to the school.
In attendance were:
• The school chaplain, Rev. Kayaga
• Secondary school head teachers
• Teachers and staff
• Parents
• Primary Seven candidates
• Special guest artist and songwriter, Priscilla Zawedde, also known as Azawi
• Non-teaching staff of the school.
The atmosphere was filled with hope, inspiration, and excitement as the entire school community rallied together to support the Primary Seven candidates in their final journey before the national exams.
