The students of Seeta High School Mbalala Campus, Mukono, have excelled in the recently released 2024 national examination results for Senior Four candidates, achieving outstanding performances despite sitting for their first exams under the new curriculum.

The school’s head teacher, Boniface Ssebukalu, expressed great joy over the students’ performance and took the opportunity to advocate for the full adoption of the new curriculum, emphasizing its benefits in equipping students with practical skills that extend beyond academics.
Outstanding Performance in National Examinations
According to Ssebukalu, the school presented over 250 candidates for the 2024 national exams, and remarkably, all of them passed in Division One. Most of the students attained grades A, B, and C, marking a significant achievement for both the students and the school.

Despite the shift to the new curriculum, which introduced practical and competency-based learning, students demonstrated their ability to adapt and excel, reinforcing the idea that the curriculum better prepares learners for real-world applications.

While addressing the results, Head Teacher Boniface Ssebukalu stressed that the new curriculum offers a more holistic approach to education, ensuring that students are not only prepared for exams but also acquire valuable skills they can use in their future careers. He noted that the new system bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, giving students a competitive edge compared to their predecessors who studied under the old system.
“The results have proven that this curriculum is beneficial to our students. It gives them a chance to acquire hands-on skills that will be useful even outside the classroom,” Ssebukalu stated.
He encouraged other schools, teachers, and education stakeholders to fully embrace the new curriculum, arguing that it provides a solid foundation for students to thrive in both academic and professional fields.
A Brighter Future for Ugandan Students
Ssebukalu emphasized that the success of Seeta High School Mbalala Campus is an indication that the new curriculum is effective in improving students’ educational experiences and opportunities. He believes that if implemented correctly across all schools, Ugandan students will be better positioned for future job markets, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The results from Seeta High School Mbalala have set a precedent for other schools in Uganda, demonstrating that a well-structured curriculum focusing on both academics and practical skills can yield exceptional results.

With such promising outcomes, Uganda’s education sector is expected to witness a transformation, where students graduate not only with theoretical knowledge but also with real-life skills that will empower them in the ever-changing world.
