In a message resonating with both cultural and spiritual depth, Rev. Fr. Godfrey Mbowa, the Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator and priest of St. Augustine Seeta Catholic Parish, has urged Ugandans to honor and preserve the legacies left by their parents. Fr. Mbowa made this powerful call during his pastoral visit to Seeta Parents Primary School, where he baptized 15 new Christians and confirmed 50 others in the Catholic faith. The event drew a diverse audience, including students, parents, and school staff.
Speaking to the gathering, Fr. Mbowa emphasized the importance of upholding the hard work and sacrifices of previous generations. He encouraged the community not to abandon the solid foundations laid by their parents, reminding them that preserving these legacies is a way to show appreciation and respect.

“Honoring the efforts of those who came before us is a sign of gratitude,” Fr. Mbowa stated. “We must continue to build on the foundations laid by our parents and ancestors, ensuring that their sacrifices are not in vain.”
During his address to the pupils, Fr. Mbowa delivered a message of hope and assurance, urging them to trust in God’s unwavering presence. He emphasized that no matter the challenges they face, they are never alone, as God is always with them, offering comfort and strength.
“Do not live in fear or anxiety,” he told the learners. “God will never leave you. You have a Comforter who is with you through every challenge, so continue to trust Him in everything.”
Alongside Fr. Mbowa’s spiritual guidance, Auntie Annie Njuki Namuswe, the Chief Executive Director, also spoke about the challenges of education. Namuswe candidly discussed the difficulties educators face in teaching essential skills like writing, as well as the spiritual guidance needed to instill prayer discipline in learners.
“It’s very hard to teach a child how to write,” Namuswe remarked. “But it’s also indeed very hard to teach learners all the prayers they are expected to say.”
Her comments highlighted the delicate balance between intellectual and spiritual growth that educators must navigate, especially in schools that emphasize holistic development.
Meanwhile, the Head Teacher of Seeta Parents Primary School, Byansi Fulgyensiyo, took the opportunity to address parents on the importance of monitoring their children during the holiday period. Fulgyensiyo expressed concern about the negative influences many students are exposed to when they are away from school, particularly peer pressure and the temptation of drug use.
“Many students fall into harmful behaviors such as drug abuse and engaging in dangerous habits that can distract them from their education,” he warned.
Fulgyensiyo called on parents to remain vigilant and ensure their children stay focused on positive activities during their holidays. He urged parents to play an active role in guiding their children away from destructive behaviors that could jeopardize their future.
The pastoral visit at Seeta Parents Primary School was not only a spiritual milestone for the new and confirmed Christians but also a reminder of the importance of upholding family legacies, nurturing both intellectual and spiritual development, and safeguarding the well-being of students beyond the classroom.
