Hon. Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, Chairperson of Mukono District Local Government, has urged leaders to set aside challenges and grudges, focusing instead on their responsibility to serve the people and promote district development.
Speaking at an end-of-year celebration for district staff and leaders at Countryside Hotel, Kisowera, Mukono, Dr. Bakaluba emphasized unity and dedication as essential for achieving community progress. The 2024 event featured activities such as a football match between workers and politicians and a community clean-up exercise.
During the ceremony, Dr. Bakaluba recognized individuals and institutions excelling in their service to Mukono District. These included exemplary public servants, retirees from government service, and individuals contributing significantly to the district’s progress. A celebratory cake-cutting ceremony highlighted the event’s theme of appreciation and achievement.
One notable honoree, Fredrick Kabonge, headteacher of Kawuku Boarding Church of Uganda Primary School, received commendation for his exceptional dedication to educating students. Kabonge, the sole headteacher among the awardees, expressed gratitude and pledged continued commitment to excellence.
Meanwhile, Mukono District’s Chief Administrative Officer, Elizabeth Namanda, cautioned government workers against complacency, underscoring the need for quality service delivery. She stated that recognizing outstanding workers aims to inspire others to improve and meet citizens’ expectations for better public service.
