This afternoon, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye met with hundreds of leaders from vulnerable groups, including the elderly and persons with disabilities, at Nakivubo Blue Primary School in Kampala. The gathering aimed to revitalize the National Resistance Movement (NRM) support in the city and included notable city leaders such as Minister for Kampala Capital City & Metropolitan Affairs Hajjat Minsa Kabanda and Hon. Sarah Kanyike, former State Minister for the Elderly and the Disabled.
In her address, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of wealth creation, aligning her message with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s vision of economic stability for all Ugandans. “For long, our President has been preaching to us to enter the money economy. Use these government programs to uplift your standards of living,” she urged. She also cautioned attendees against supporting politicians who prioritize their own interests over the welfare of their constituents, stating, “Kampala has long been a hotspot for political opportunists, but this should end with the 2026 elections.”
Namyalo reflected on the 2021 elections, where she observed that some voters in Kampala misplaced their support on opposition politicians who, after winning, became inaccessible, leaving their constituents to grapple with ongoing political, social, and economic challenges.
Minister Minsa praised Hajjat Namyalo for her tireless efforts in enhancing Museveni’s support within Kampala. “The name Hajjat Namyalo is known in every corner. She may not be common on TV or radio, but she is always on the ground, connecting with the local bazzukulu. No wonder she is popularly known as Chief Muzzukulu,” said Minister Kabanda. She expressed gratitude to President Museveni for recognizing and collaborating with dedicated leaders like Namyalo.
The meeting concluded on a high note, with attendees receiving various gifts including maize flour, beans, and cooking oil. Additionally, Hajjat Namyalo facilitated transport for the leaders with a contribution of UGX 1 million, promising further support in the form of tools to help create jobs and alleviate poverty.
This engagement underscores the NRM’s commitment to empowering vulnerable populations in Kampala and fostering a political environment focused on genuine development and support for the community.
