Mukono District Chairperson, Hon. Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, has called on politicians to stop resisting development projects introduced in their areas, emphasizing that these initiatives benefit taxpayers more than engaging in political conflicts that hinder community progress.

In his message delivered by the Acting Vice Chairperson of the district, Hon. Jorem Kabali Kimera, Rev. Bakaluba stressed the importance of prioritizing development over political disagreements.

Hon. Kabali officiated at the launch of a water project in Ntunda Sub-county, Nakifuma County. The project, implemented by Cabrid Technical Services as the contractors, aims to provide tap water to twelve villages, addressing a long-standing water shortage in the area.
Mukono District Water Engineer, Eng. Nadduli Denis, outlined the project’s implementation plan, noting that the first phase is expected to cost over four billion shillings. He urged residents to cooperate with the contractors to ensure the project’s success.

Hon. Councilor Ssentongo Robert Mwesigwa, representing Nakisunga Sub-county on the Mukono District Council and serving as Secretary for Works, Water, and Natural Resources, encouraged residents to embrace the project. He also reassured them that the district was committed to improving road infrastructure, especially in areas with poor roads.
Kayoro Pontius, representing the Chief Administrative Office, Ms Elizabeth Namanda and serving as Clerk Assistant of Mukono District Local Government, appreciated landowners who donated land for the project without demanding compensation. He acknowledged the late Bildard Lutabi Kagwa Muwonge (BLK) family and Sowedi of Ntunda Village for their generosity.
Pontius highlighted that some people prioritize financial gain over community development, making such donations rare and commendable.
Hon. Nakanwagi Annet, representing people with disabilities on the Mukono District Council, urged contractors to prioritize hiring local youth. She also cautioned parents to protect school-going girls from potential exploitation, as project workers often have money that could attract them into risky situations.
Ntunda Sub-county Chief, Bamu Musis, and Local Council Chairperson, Philimon Ssenzira, raised concerns about the absence of government workers in the area. They noted that the lack of government teachers in public schools and agricultural extension officers could hinder government programs.
Residents, led by Ntunda Chairperson Lutaya Robert, thanked the district leadership and the government for bringing clean water to their community. They highlighted how children had to walk long distances at night to fetch water from boreholes, leading to cases of teenage pregnancies.
Hon. Jorem Kabali Kimera urged Ntunda residents to embrace the project and thanked the District Chairperson for prioritizing their needs.
Delivering Rev. Bakaluba’s message, he encouraged the community to support development initiatives instead of engaging in political conflicts that slow down progress.

The event was attended by Ntunda Sub-county GISO Nalugwa Cissy, who represented the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mukono, Ndisaba Fatuma Nabitaka, along with parish chiefs, school administrators, residents, and other district officials.
