Martyrs Way nursery and Primary School is celebrating an outstanding performance in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) after securing 70 first grades. Amidst the celebrations, Headteacher Owori Gerald used the occasion to address a critical issue in education, urging other school founders to prioritize investment in schools rather than blaming teachers for poor performance.

This call was made by the Head teacher of Martyrs Way Nursery and Primary School, Nabusuggwe Ssonde in Mukono, during a celebration organized by the school founders to give thanks to God and congratulate the school community on the success of their students in the 2024 PLE exams. The event also recognized the dedication of teachers, with 70 students passing into the first division and others into the second division, out of a total of 123 students who sat for the exams last year.

Speaking to the former candidates of P.7 2024 along with their parents, Head teacher Owori Gerald urged the school founders to provide all the necessary resources to help students perform well in their exams and applauds Directors’ Investments in Academic Excellence.
Pupils who spoke at the event expressed their gratitude to God for their achievements, noting that even though some did not achieve the grades they had hoped for, they were thankful to the teachers for their commitment and to their parents for their support and encouragement.

Some of the parents, led by Lydia Kibalama, also expressed their gratitude to God for the success of their children and praised the school leadership for guiding their children toward achieving their dreams. They noted that the children’s performance in the 2024 exams would enable them to secure admission to excellent secondary schools.
The teachers, led by P.7 2024 Class Coordinator Bwamiti Noah, shared their satisfaction in successfully guiding 70 students into the first division. They expressed their gratitude to the Director and the Head teacher for providing the necessary resources to ensure the pupils performed well. The teachers also called upon parents to continue trusting them and supporting their children’s education.

The celebration was attended by students who completed their exams last year (2024 P.7 class), those preparing for this year’s exams (2025 P.7 class), parents, and teachers. During the event, the Head teacher handed over two goats to the teachers as a token of appreciation for their excellent work with the Pupils.
