This communication was made by the Proprietor of Martyrs Way Nursery and Primary School, Ssonde Namugongo, during a ceremony where 168 children were confirmed in Christian faith and prayers were offered for candidates preparing to sit for the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). The prayers were led by the Bishop of Mukono, The Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, along with various other clergy.
In his sermon, Bishop Kagodo thanked the school leaders for prioritizing God in their work and urged them to stop speaking negatively about children who are still in school. He encouraged them to support the children in trusting God and to teach them home responsibilities, as they are the future leaders. He also urged everyone to continue caring for the children.
Jackson Tumuhairwe highlighted the challenges they face, including the poor condition of roads, and stated that it is time for the government to fix the roads, as it is their responsibility. This, he said, would allow them to continue developing the communities where they live, even though politicians seem indifferent to serving their constituencies.
Meanwhile, the Archdeacon of Seeta, Ven. Canon Edward Balamaze Kironde, urged parents to focus on guiding their children while they are still young, rather than waiting to help them after they have grown up. He reminded parents not to be neglectful, leaving their children to idle and return to watching television.
