“Trusting God is Greater Than Grabbing Church Land for Personal Gain – Bishop Ssebaggala”

“Trusting God is Greater Than Grabbing Church Land for Personal Gain – Bishop Ssebaggala”

The retired Bishop of Mukono Diocese, James Williams Ssebaggala, has cautioned people against encroaching on church land for personal gain, emphasizing that such land is dedicated to God’s work, which benefits His people.

At Dekamos Media Services, we are here to remind you that capturing your great moments is our passion.

Bishop Ssebaggala made this statement during a service at St. Luke Kirangira Town Church of Uganda in the Ddandira Parish under the Nassuuti Archdeaconry in Mukono Municipality. The service was held to give thanks to God for Rev. Deacon Roggers Kityo, the treasurer of the Diocese of Mukono, who was recently priested in the Church of Uganda. Rev. Kityo also serves as the Assistant Vicar of Ddandira.

In his address, Bishop Ssebaggala urged people to seek a deeper understanding of God, highlighting that those who truly know Him would never attempt to claim church land. He reminded the congregation that humanity is merely a guest on this earth and warned that such acts bring no blessings or progress. He also dismissed the perception that the church lacks proper documentation for its properties.

The Archdeacon of Seeta, Ven. Canon Edward Balamaze Kironde, who delivered the sermon, commended Rev. Kityo for his steadfastness in ministry despite the challenges posed by land grabbers. He encouraged Christians to warmly welcome and support the ministers sent to serve them, fostering both spiritual and physical growth.

During the service, Rev. Roggers Kityo expressed his gratitude to God for guiding him through numerous challenges in his ministry, including threats from land grabbers. He reaffirmed his commitment to God’s work and the church.

The service was graced by notable clergy, including the Provost of St. Philip and Andrew Cathedral, Mukono, The Very Rev. Godfrey Ssengendo; the Archdeacon of Nassuuti, Ven. Rottan Kampi Kenneth Lukwago; Rev. Canon Geoffrey Kagoye; the Head of Staff, Rev. Gambrill Noah Nsubuga; alongside other pastors, preachers, and members of the Christian community. The congregation also contributed UGX 7 million out of the UGX 10 million needed to put tiles in a house for the Lay Reader of this Church.
