Seeta University Ushers in a New Era of Practical Skills-Based Education in Uganda

“It is high time that education institutions began focusing on equipping learners with practical skills relevant to the courses they pursue, rather than just offering academic knowledge and charging high tuition fees—only for students to graduate without job opportunities” – Ronald Mbago

At Dekamos Media Services, we are here to remind you that capturing your great moments is our passion.

In a bold move that could reshape the future of higher education in Uganda, Seeta University, located in Mbalala, Mukono District, has opened its doors with a unique focus on equipping students with hands-on, practical skills aligned with their academic courses.

This fresh approach was emphasized by Ronald Mbago, the Vice Chancellor of Seeta University, who passionately stated, “It is high time that education institutions began focusing on equipping learners with practical skills relevant to the courses they pursue, rather than just offering academic knowledge and charging high tuition fees—only for students to graduate without job opportunities.”

Mbago’s statement captures the very essence of the university’s mission—to shift from theory-heavy instruction to a more dynamic, skills-based model of learning.

Founded in February 2024, Seeta University has already attracted over 500 students in its first intake. Parents and prospective students who have visited the campus have expressed admiration for the university’s modern infrastructure and commitment to excellence. Spacious lecture halls, state-of-the-art laboratories, and cutting-edge IT facilities provide an environment that encourages innovation and hands-on learning.

The University’s Academic structure is built around Science, Environment, Engineering Technology and Agriculture offering a variety of courses including:

  • Computer Science
  • Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • Software Engineering
  • Business Computing
  • Information Technology
  • Environmental Science
  • Agriculture

In the Business faculty, students can study:

  • Marketing
  • Human Resource Management
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Entrepreneurship

Meanwhile, the Health Sciences department offers:

  • Nursing
  • Midwifery
  • Pharmacy
  • Public Health

There are also plans to introduce a Medical Hospital for clinical training, as well as a Law School, to further expand the university’s professional offerings.

Ronald Mbago explained that Seeta University is not just offering degrees, but building future innovators, entrepreneurs, and professionals. “Our focus is on producing graduates who can think, do, and create. We want our students to walk away not just with certificates, but with real skills they can apply immediately,” he said.

As Uganda continues to grapple with high rates of youth unemployment despite rising numbers of graduates, Seeta University is positioning itself as a solution—ushering in a new era where education means employability and self-reliance.
